Watching Roy as he came out of the tunnel for the first time, you could see his excitement to be back in the Dean Dome for another season. As an accountant, that seems almost unfair to me. Sure, Roy works incredibly long days during his “busy season,” but so do I. The difference is that his work is watching game film of Tyler Hansbrough dunking over Josh McRoberts, whereas mine is working on someone’s 1040. Which of those tasks sounds more appealing to you? Did I mention he makes about a billion dollars a year? (more…)

- Just because a broadcaster comes across as having a harsh, abrasive personality while he’s on the air, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s like that in real life. However, in Billy Packer’s case, it does mean this. (more…)

People make some truly bizarre wardrode decisions before heading to the Dean Dome. One particular lady was wearing an extra long sweater and boots. No sign of pants of any kind. Just an extra long sweater and boots. (more…)

“So far this season they’ve combined to average 34.2 points, 17.3 rebounds, and 5.8 blocks a game. They’re not only the most potent frontline freshman tandem in the country, but one of the most potent frontline tandems period.” – These are the words that would be written about Alex and Deon if Tyler and Brandan had never been born. A conversation overheard outside the Dean Dome, circa 7:15 PM Saturday evening:

“So…where are you from?”

“Bryson City.”

“Oh really…I know where that is!”

“Do you?”

“Yeah, it’s in Missouri, right?”

“No…mountains of North Carolina.”

“Right. Bryson City. Yeah, I’ve been there.” (more…)

- Not only does Billy Packer hate Carolina (and proceed to make it blatantly obvious when he’s on the air), but he has no qualms about cutting in front of you in the media buffet line. - You probably don’t look at Roy Williams and immediately think, “Now there’s a heck of an athlete.” But watch him sometime while he’s throwing out t-shirts before a game. Great throwing motion. Fluid. Smooth. Silky. Velvety, even. Doesn’t look at all like your typical old guy in a suit. Dude was probably quite the baller in his day. (more…)
